The Chillicothe High School Concert Band is comprised of over 80 students, grades 9 - 12. The students meet on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays during 8th period. The Concert Band serves as the nucleus of the entire wind and percussion instrumental studies program in the district.
Students receive instruction on technique, music notation, rhythmic interpretation, and performance practice. Repertoire is drawn from a solid core of educational and artistic wind ensemble literature. Emphasis is given towards achieving musical literacy alongside performance capability. This literacy is achieved through a contextual focus on historical, societal, and compositional factors.
