The
study of jazz offers students a path to true virtuosity and command of the
musical language. Students will study jazz, and its associated styles, the
history of the art form, music theory, and improvisation within the framework
of the large ensemble setting.
The Jazz Ensemble studies a wide range of repertoire, covering the full span of style, eras, and composers/arrangers within the jazz idiom. Students are held to a high level of musical and academic performance, and pushed to grow as soloists and members of the ensemble.
